The holiday season is for spending time for showing our love to family, friends, and the world. Many people use this time of year to spread that love by giving back to their communities by volunteering at soup kitchens, donating to toy drives, or giving to emergency services.

Celebrities do the same thing—only on a much larger scale. With funds like no one would believe, many celebrities use the holiday season to contribute to organizations that really make a difference in their communities and across the world. Here are just a few celebrities making a positive impact on the lives of others through their generous donations this holiday season.

Gary Sinise

Gary Sinise is well-known for his philanthropic work with veterans and their families. For years now, the Gary Sinise Foundation has impacted the lives of men, women, and children who are impacted by working in our active-duty service programs.

In early December, Sinise made the dreams of many families come true. With the help of American airlines, The Gary Sinise Foundation treated 1,000 children of fallen military members from 87 cities throughout the world to an all-expenses-paid, five day trip to Disney World. While nothing can truly alleviate the pain of a lost family member, Sinise’s “Snowball Express” was created to bring children and surviving spouses together to experience a sort of healing retreat. Alongside a few wonderful days at the Disney parks, the program also focuses on supporting one another and therapeutic programs.

“I’ve gotten to know a lot of these families. I love them and I want to just do something to help them through,” Sinise says. The important ingredient is that these kids meet each other and they know they’re not alone. They make friendships that last a lifetime.”

Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos

In an interview with People, Kelly Ripa illustrates just how important spending time with family is to her and Mark Consuelos. “We try not to deviate from how we were raised,” she says, claiming both she and her husband were taught to appreciate “the stuff that you cannot buy, which is being together.”

This is precisely why Ripa and Consuelos gave their precious time to attend the Win NYC holiday party. The New York City-based charity works to provide shelter for homeless families across the city, and the husband and wife duo made that party all the more special for families in attendance. With the help of AmazonSmile Charity List, the couple delivered toys, décor, and other supplies necessary for a truly fantastic celebration. Ripa and Consuelos spread holiday cheer to families who otherwise may not have had the opportunity to experience.

“We’ve really been very fortunate in our lives…we’ve been blessed beyond, beyond,” Ripa says. “So to be able to be involved with an organization like this and give a little something back means everything to us because we’ve already been blessed beyond our wildest dreams.”

LeBron James

Just over a year ago, LeBron James opened his I Promise School in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. The school is designed to provide children who come from rocky homes with education, a path to college, and support services. The institution even provides free meals and bikes to students.

For the seventh year in a row, James organized for his third graders to take a magical journey on the Polar Express, a fantastic way to put children in the holiday spirit. In a video shared by the school’s Instagram, students can be seen with wide smiles, singing and dancing along with their conductor.

“The magic that lives in our own backyard is just a stone’s throw away and one to experience with the whole family,” the I Promise School wrote.

If you have the time, make your holiday season extra special by putting a smile on someone else’s face. You may decide it feels better than receiving any gift.
